On first impression was of a very comfortable nicely decorated 4**** hotel. The brochure clearly states that customer satisfaction and requests are a priority. That was not the case in our experience. We could not under any circumstances be regarded as demanding as we only requested two things - a tray of tea in our room of which we are still waiting and in the restaurant I requested my meat cooked so that it was not rare. It arrived more rare than the medium rare steak my husband received. By the time a waiter came back into the restaurent so we could send it back to be further cooked, my husband had finished his meal. When the waiter finally arrived he commented he had thought it was undercooked before serving it!!!! The replacement meal was no better. Rather than wait any longer I gave my meal to my husband and went without. For a €90 meal it was an appalling service and of unnacceptable standard.
The bed looked very soft and luxurious but in fact the feather underlay just formed a huge ridge in the middle so allowing only the edge of the bed to lay on which in turn meant us to both suffering a very uncomfortable and sleepless night.
Breakfast was abyssmal - a few pieces of bread and a toaster that didn't work plus thick puree consistency juice with an indescribable flavour - the chef was very miserable even though we were eating at the beginning of service - unless you wanted ommelette she was not happy about cooking alternatives and most of the food items mentioned were not available - pity the poor souls requesting eggs at the end of service....
Lots of lovely shops and restaurants nearby. Just a 10 minute walk away is Vieux Lyon with some interesting shops, museums and the cathedral
Top Tip
Just a 10 minute walk away is Vieux Lyon with some interesting shops, museums and the cathedral - well worth a visit even if you are not into churches etc.
